Movie audiences were more interested in light comedy over the weekend than in Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez’s “Grindhouse,” a double-feature ode to bloody exploitation flicks.

Paramount and DreamWorks’ figure-skating romp Blades of Glory remained the No. 1 movie with $23 million, followed for the second weekend by Disney’s animated comedy “Meet the Robinsons,” according to studio estimates Sunday

Jennifer Lopez To Appear On ‘American Idol’

Jennifer Lopez is the latest in a list of superstars to mentor the contestants on American Idol. During a Latin-themed American Idol on Tuesday (April 10th) at 8 p.m., she will work with the Top 8 finalists on their song choices and delivery.

On the following night (April 11th), she will perform her new single, Que Hiciste, live on the show.

In other newz, Jennifer Lopez’s current release, Como Ama Una Mujer (How a Woman Loves), is her first all-Spanish album.

Beyonce Announces U.S. Tour Dates

Beyonce Knowles has announced dates for her 2007 tour, The Beyonce Experience, featuring her all female band.

The tour begins in Tokyo, and will arrive in the U.S. in July.

Mario Lopez Joins Christina Milian In TV Sitcom

R&B singer Christina Milian will join former Saved By The Bell star Mario Lopez in a new TV sitcom, informs Starpulse.

Lopez, who recently appeared on the talent show Dancing With The Stars, will star as a slick New York executive in the pilot of Eight Days A Week.

Milian is set to play a gorgeous ex-law career woman who takes an assistant’s job at an art gallery.

Salma Hayek To Form Latin-themed Film Company

Mexican actress and producer Salma Hayek and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc say they agreed to form a film company specializing in Latino movies appealing to wider, mainstream audiences.

The company, Ventanazul, will be housed at MGM and be a partnership between the Hollywood film and television studio and Hayek, Oscar nominated for her movie Frida and producer of hit TV show Ugly Betty.

Ventanazul plans to make or acquire independent movies, and hopes to distribute two to four films a year that draw on Latin themes, feature Latino or Latina actors and cross over to mainstream audiences for broad, box office appeal.

‘The Price Of Loyalty’ - Book By Lil’ Kim

Rapper Lil’ Kim is putting her life story on paper with The Price of Loyalty, a 320-page volume that will be published by St. Martin’s Press.

The project will not be a biography and will be written under Lil’ Kim’s real name, Kimberly Jones. Although few details have been revealed about the book’s content, it is expected to include some of the rapper’s experiences from her recent incarceration in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Kim’s book is scheduled to hit stores May 29.

Britney Spears upcoming album announced to be exceptional!

According to music producer Sean Garrett, Britney Spears upcoming album is “exceptional”!

Garrett has worked before with celebrities like Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez and Mary J. Blige and is currently working on Britney Spears’ comeback album.

Pop Celebrity and the music producer had worked on five tracks before she entered a rehab centre, but now that she has been checking out they are making the final touches of the album.

Leonardo DiCaprio to star in ‘Body of Lies’

Leonardo DiCaprio is in early talks to star in Warner Bros.’ adaptation of the new David Ignatius novel, Body of Lies, informs Variety.

Ridley Scott will direct the project, which reunites DiCaprio with screenwriter William Monahan, Oscar-winning writer of The Departed.

DiCaprio’s deal has to be negotiated, but he already has worked the picture into his busy schedule. He’ll make it this fall after first reteaming with Titanic co-star Kate Winslet on Revolutionary Road, the Sam Mendes-directed DreamWorks drama that shoots in April.

Nicolas Cage To Film ‘The Sadhu’ In India

The Sadhu (The Holy Man) will take Nicolas Cage to India for his next movie role. The actor has signed on to play a soldier-turned-mystic seeking revenge in an adaptation of a comic book series of the same name.

Set to direct the film is Shekhar Kapur, and Indian spiritual writer Deepak Chopra is writing the screenplay, Chopra’s son, Gotham, told the Associated Press.

Cameron found her rescue in surfing on the beautiful sandy beaches of Waikiki. Since she decided to improve her skills, she took extra surfing lessons from Hans Hederman, the same instructor who taught her and Justin while they were still together, reports Lyfe & Style.

Spider-Man 3 At Tribeca Film Festival

The Tribeca Film Festival has announced Spider-Man 3, directed by Sam Raimi, will have its U.S. Premiere at the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival, presented by American Express.

Spider-Man 3, a Columbia Pictures film which opens in theaters worldwide on May 4, will celebrate the first-ever star-studded gala premiere in Queens, Peter Parker’s hometown.

Stars of the film, including Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst, will land in New York, their final destination after an eight-city international tour and join a crowd of 3,000 people at the UA Kaufman Astoria 14 in downtown Astoria on Monday, April 30th.
