Billy Thorpe Dies at 60
Australia is in mourning after the sudden death of a Manchester-born rock legend Billy Thorpe.
His death on Wednesday, aged 60, brought thousands of tributes, including one from prime minister John Howard.
He died in hospital, surrounded by his family, after a massive heart attack. He was just putting the finishing touches to his latest project, Tangiers, an album he hoped would promote greater understanding between Christianity and Islam.
A memorial service will be held in his honour in Sydney on Sunday and televised live across the country.
